Porebny, 80 of Holyoke, died Saturday at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and educated in Poland. Roman was a machinist for H.M. Spencer Co. in Holyoke until his retirement, served with the British Army during WWII and was a communicant of Mater Dolorosa Church.
He is survived by his wife, Halina (Piekarczuk) Porebny, his children, Michael Porebny of Holyoke, Debbie and her husband Willard Brown of West Springfield and Aggie and her husband Adam of Chicopee. He leaves a brother-in-law, Dareck Piekarczuk and a sister -in-law Marcella Dyjach both of Poland and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was pre-deceased by several brothers and sisters. Born in Montague City, he had lived in Vermont but spent most of his life in Agawam. Roger worked as a machinist for Pratt Whitney and previously worked for the former Bosch. He also worked as a courier for Bradley Airport and had worked for Kaman Aircraft. He was a 32nd degree mason and was a member of the Lodge of Masons 18 in Windsor, VT. He was a Shriner and member of the Mt.
Sinai Temple of Shriners, the Shrine Club and Consistory in Burlington, VT and the council and chapter of the Scottish Rite in Brattleboro, VT. 'Roger was an avid automobile fan owning many different sports cars. He was also an airplane enthusiast and had refurbished an airplane. He was an army air corp veteran of World War II and an air force veteran of the Korean conflict. He leaves four sisters, Dorothy H.
